DIY Ball Mason Jar Sconce Light

ball jar light

We recently painted our bathroom and added some character to our bathroom out-of-the-box vanity and medicine cabinet. Meanwhile, I have been saving a few of my blue tinted ball jars for the perfect project... New sconce lights to add more cottage chic to my bathroom? Well, of course. My husband is a genius when it comes to repurposing items... He knows I've been looking at various ball jar lights on Etsy, but didn't want to spend a lot of money on them. We are not electricians so it would … [Read more...] about DIY Ball Mason Jar Sconce Light

DIY Chippy Painted Bathroom Vanity

If you are like us, there are times when you remodel a room early on in home ownership, you make hasty decisions that you later regret... for us, it was the extra bathroom downstairs that is most frequently used by our guests. Let me start with a little history. This is a very, very tiny bathroom. An add-on by previous owners to the back porch of our 100 year-old home. A few years ago my husband crafted some board and batten to cover the uneven plaster walls and also used some beadboard … [Read more...] about DIY Chippy Painted Bathroom Vanity

Turquoise Paint Washed Front Porch Dresser

I love the look of furniture on a porch. We have a generous, covered front porch that I choose to decorate as if it was my second living room. :) I finally got around to painting some of my furniture and accessories this week - including a garage sale dresser that was in okay shape (nothing I would put inside my house). Right now, I'm in love with turquoise and orange combinations. I recently purchased some emerald teal colored paint (aka Gypsy Teal) and couldn't wait to paint something in … [Read more...] about Turquoise Paint Washed Front Porch Dresser

Burlap Sack Foot Stool

Here's a fun upcycle project that only took a few hours to complete... it actually took me much longer to find enough decorative nails to finish the project!   I found this old stool at the flea market and new this sturdy, solid stool would be a perfect project for the burlap I had collected.    I'm not sure what was underneath this 60s tapestry fabric, but I removed all the nails and added a burlap coffee sack to cover the old fabric. I painted the legs a barn red and probably could … [Read more...] about Burlap Sack Foot Stool

Repurpose: Lead Glass Window

Old leaded glass windows are so beautiful. It's a shame you don't find many houses anymore that still retain the them. However, I love to look at them in antique and salvage shops. They can be expensive, but I choose not to spend a lot on my salvage finds so if you're patient you will eventually cross paths with decently priced versions. This one was only about $40 and there were no cracks in the glass.Like any architectural home decor element, I've seen them used around the house in a variety … [Read more...] about Repurpose: Lead Glass Window
