DIY Decor: Signs of Fall

Crisp air, falling leaves, fresh apples, and pumpkin-flavored everything... all signs of the season. At our house, it's always a busy time. My oldest has a birthday in October and Halloween is one of my favorite holidays to celebrate. For me it's about spooky movies, costume decisions, pumpkin-flavored everything, and best of all: fall home decor!I thought I would share a few nooks in our home that are decorated for the season. Here are the signs of fall at our house...Outside, colorful and … [Read more...] about DIY Decor: Signs of Fall

DIY Decor: Home Office

Here's a quick (and I mean like 10 minutes tops) project. I was with a friend at a flea market recently and she was picking out some vintage book pages. I love typography and thought this would make a great addition to my home office. I already had an empty 8x10 photo frame. I simply used my Silhouette cameo to create a scalloped matte from scrapbook card stock. If you don't have a machine like this, you could skip the scallops and simple cut a rectangle to frame your book page … [Read more...] about DIY Decor: Home Office

Buckets & Burlap

My dear husband found these buckets at a flea market last weekend. They were in ok shape and only one still had a handle attached. For this restyle project we added a little burlap number and fabric to the best side of the buckets. I just used scraps I had in my craft supplies (including the ribbon). Once again, using my Silhouette Cameo made it easy to add the stenciled numbers and letters. I used the machine to cut a stencil from freezer paper and ironed it on so it would adhere … [Read more...] about Buckets & Burlap

Numbers, numbers, painted numbers.

Okay, so you could say I'm a bit obsessed with numbers right now. I'm seeing all kinds of numbered items on Pinterest, of course. It's a really easy way to update something that's already painted.  I think it adds a bit of vintage spirit to your home - and in my case, both indoors and out! My mom recently purchased a Silhouette Cameo machine for me which makes it super easy to design a cool number stencil in any font I choose. I absolutely love everything about typography design and this sort … [Read more...] about Numbers, numbers, painted numbers.

More burlap foot stools and benches.

Here are a few more benches and a foot stool that we painted, waxed and recovered with burlap sacks. We made our own chalk paint for the white and blue benches. Then we rubbed on a dark wax for a smooth finish. Our personal favorite is the blue "kitchen queen" potato sack! These are perfect accessories for your living room or a mudroom for putting on shoes... or perhaps in a bedroom or by your front door. There are countless possibilities. Would be great in a room with some burlap pillows … [Read more...] about More burlap foot stools and benches.
