Buckets & Burlap

My dear husband found these buckets at a flea market last weekend. They were in ok shape and only one still had a handle attached. For this restyle project we added a little burlap number and fabric to the best side of the buckets. I just used scraps I had in my craft supplies (including the ribbon).

Once again, using my Silhouette Cameo made it easy to add the stenciled numbers and letters. I used the machine to cut a stencil from freezer paper and ironed it on so it would adhere smoothly to the burlap. If you haven’t tried this technique yet, I highly recommend it for all your fabric stencil projects.
Then I cut a fabric square a bit bigger and used spray adhesive to attach both to the bucket (love, LOVE, love spray adhesive for DIY projects – perfect solution to my impatience with glue).
I haven’t decided where I like this better… on my stairs or just in front of the staircase. I had to keep at least one bucket because they turned out so cute. But the numbered ones are headed to the shop!
