I'm a bargain shopper. I dig sales. I cannot pay full price for anything. Thus, I love it when I find something old that I think is a good deal - even in an antique store. I prefer to scavenge these type of things at auctions where the prices are usually rock bottom when dealers aren't around, but I think these two pieces are nothing short of a steal! Found this great sign and negotiated an additional $10 off... I loved the green color (sorry, hard to really see in my instagram pic) and … [Read more...] about Recent Vintage Finds
Repurpose: License Plate Flower
Have I told you how talented my husband is? We found this little gem in a cute shop while on vacation near French Lick, Indiana.Corey has been collecting random license plates for years. We've put plenty of the coolest or oldest ones on our walls in our basement (channeling Applebee's or a more hip bar scene?)... Anyway, he's basically taken the rest of our piles of license plates and turned them into these cute flowers! While I'm usually the one with the vision, he initiated this … [Read more...] about Repurpose: License Plate Flower
Projects for Holiday Bazaar
We are busy getting ready for our 2011 Holiday Bazaar shop on Saturday. Here is a sneak peak at a few items that we will be selling. We tried a new antique glazing technique this season and we are also experimenting with a variety of burlap. I was in a hurry so the photos aren't the greatest... just a snapshot of what's to come!! … [Read more...] about Projects for Holiday Bazaar
Before and After: Cowhide Reupholstered Chair
Here's a before and after that I'd like to soon forget! It's one of those projects that I foolishly challenged myself with... I thought recovering an old vinyl chair would be a simple project for my skill set. Even when my brother-in-law insisted that I cover it with cowhide instead of fabric, I thought it would be no problem. ... {proving I know so very little about upholstering furniture} ... I had no idea how physically tough it would be to work with a rounded chair and stiff … [Read more...] about Before and After: Cowhide Reupholstered Chair
Before and After: Chair Update
My husband found these great chairs at an auction for just a few bucks each. One of them had some damage on the middle panel, but overall they were solid and in good condition. I don't know why, but I'm attracted to lonely, mismatched chairs. Maybe it's because each chair has a unique character, shape and form that can be easily re-styled for any room or purpose. I have quite a collection of random chairs in our basement workshop that I've updated for resell. My dad even joked that we should … [Read more...] about Before and After: Chair Update
