Anyone else find it hard to actually get your pictures printed... like on that heavier glossy paper we used to call photographs? Seriously. I'm not one for missing a good shot. Just ask my kids who cringe when I reach for my phone or grab my DSLR as we head out the door. Thankfully I'm fast and can usually get the shot before the whining begins. Ha! Every new year I make the same resolution... This year I'm going to print out a bunch of photos for everyone to see. And the years pass by … [Read more...] about Summer Memories in Print

Our Second Date with Haven
I met my husband on a blind date. I knew he was my brother's teacher. I may have even looked him up in an old yearbook (you know, just to see if he was as cute as my mom said he was)... but we had never met in person before that first date. Our first date was pretty good. Conversation was easy. We had a lot in common. Less than a week later, he sent me a bouquet of purple flowers (my favorite color) and asked me on a second date to see John Mellencamp play at Indiana University (he couldn't … [Read more...] about Our Second Date with Haven
Favorite Vintage Industrial Farmhouse Lights Under $50
We are in the midst of what is likely to be the messiest part of our DIY kitchen renovation... heaven help me!?! Electrical outlets have been upgraded and new light boxes added. It's one of the few kitchen projects we had to hire out since we are certainly no expert when it comes to electrical work. In this old house we love, our kitchen only had one ceiling light and a small pendant light above the sink. No matter what wattage I maxed out in these light fixtures, it was still dim. To … [Read more...] about Favorite Vintage Industrial Farmhouse Lights Under $50
Vintage Backyard Shed Makeover
Do you ever think about moving? Sometimes I dream of relocating to Wisconsin. We just returned from a family vacation on Crystal Lake near Plymouth, WI (a favorite spot of ours since I was young). We LOVE lake life in Wisconsin... we love the friendly people, the supper clubs, the brats and beer, and the CHEESE - oh that glorious cheese. I may have ate half my weight in dairy and drank the rest in craft beer... but alas, vacation is over. And, we aren't moving anytime soon. In fact, we … [Read more...] about Vintage Backyard Shed Makeover
Starry Night Stencil Patriotic Table Makeover
I'm a child of the 80s. And to be honest... until recently when I thought of stencils (or the art of stenciling) my mind would fill with images of primitive decor and painted amish kids sitting next to bent willow trees with a heart in between them. I have memories of my mom dragging a ladder around the dining room to stencil a floral border on the wall near the ceiling. Many of you may have done the same. (She has since painted over them. She will read this and would want me to mention it. … [Read more...] about Starry Night Stencil Patriotic Table Makeover
Another Happy Door Makeover with Front Door Paint
This is the story of a door. To most it looks like just any old door on the west side of our house - a door that you might not even know existed if you were visiting our house. It's a small door. It's an old door. But recently we learned it is also a door with a rich past. That's when we decided this door deserved a makeover. And for that, we sought help from Modern Masters and their Front Door Paint collection. Seemingly there is nothing special about this door. In fact it is a … [Read more...] about Another Happy Door Makeover with Front Door Paint
