Old cabinet doors make excellent repurpose projects. This one is smooth and an excellent backdrop for a homemade chalkboard. We attached the vintage chippy-painted hardware at the bottom to conveniently hold the chalk. Finally, the addition of a small boxwood wreath is a great natural and earthy accent to create a seasonal display in your home. Change up the chalkboard embellishments to suit any season. … [Read more...] about DIY Chalkboard Door for Fall

Repurposed License Plates
Did you ever play the license plate game on long road trips? I'm not that old, but we certainly didn't have the luxuries my children now enjoy in the car like handheld video games, TV, tablets and more. I guess my husband and I are still playing the license plate game... We collect license plates from every decade and every state. Over the years we have acquired quite a collection in our inventory of vintage goods. They are such a cool piece of history. Each state chooses to uniquely … [Read more...] about Repurposed License Plates
Window to the World: DIY Map Project
My husband taught history for many years. Maybe it explains why he is attracted to all things old, vintage and worn... except for me, of course, because I'm at least a few years younger than him and definitely not old or worn - yet! DIY Repurposed Vintage Map Frame Decor
We are always on the lookout for old frames at flea markets, salvage shops and somewhat less frequently, yard sales. I love finding unique shapes, ornate versions, or simply really large ones. Multi-Purpose Dining Room Tour
I love old my old house. I love my old house. I love my old house...just keep telling yourself...Okay, so I don't love EVERYTHING about my old house, but I have learned to make do with some of those little annoyances that come with century old homes. I've accepted things like tiny kitchens, leaky bathrooms, too few outlets, and multiple doorways in every room. And, I've fallen in love with things like tall ceilings, glass door knobs, original solid wood trim and pocket doors, built-in window … [Read more...] about Multi-Purpose Dining Room Tour
Flea Market Flip: Painted Vases
I'm a flea market junkie but I don't normally browse the glassware. I guess I feel like I already have a lot of it stored in cabinets and frankly I'm running out of storage for pieces that I only occasionally use. However, these two pumpkin-shaped vases caught my eye... and, well, they were only $1. Perfect for fall, RIGHT? I absolutely adore Krylon's Looking Glass spray paint. It turns plain ol' glass into something spectacular. I've used it on old floral vases, ball jars and more. It's … [Read more...] about Flea Market Flip: Painted Vases
