Oh Laurie - thank you so much! And, I'm so glad you found me too! ;) You know, we installed this fan in late fall, so I cannot attest as to whether it cools the room just as much. We are currently experiencing negative temps here in Indiana (so it's not getting used much right now at all - LOL). My living room is long and narrow, so I've divided the furniture for the "living space" into 2/3 of the room. This means the fan is directly above our seating area. I do feel the air more directly rather than circulating as it does with a traditional fan. But, since it is where we sit, that is perfect for us. I really want to add one above our bed this summer. With upstairs bedrooms, they are necessary in our summers too. I'll try to do an update when the weather gets warmer later this year, so stay tuned. I appreciate your comments! Have a great weekend! Kristy

I have just found your blog and I am so glad I did. I love your style so much! Your home is so full of life and beauty. Very uplifting!

This fan is so pretty. I am wondering if it cools the room as well as the old fashioned kind. I am in Texas. We have 9 ceiling fans in my house that we use practically year round, and they are a 24/7 essential during the summer months. I hate the dimly lit "boob dome" feature of our fans, too! They do get the job done in terms of cooling, buy yes-- ugly. Do you find your new version cooling well?

Thanks so much for sharing the vintage love! Looking forward to many more happy blog posts to come.

Had to comment since you mentioned Trading Spaces and the way the designers always wanted to chuck the fan...wait, what? I live in Maine and I cannot imagine the summer without a fan, let alone living in places that are really hot, like the south or west. Absolutely ridiculous, never understood that thinking. Have to admit that there are so many nice looking fans now, no one should mind.
