I'm seeing these little ottomans everywhere. Sometimes they are rounded poufs, while other times they are more like soft cubes or extra large floor pillows. No matter the shape, they are clever little punches of color that double as foot rests and extra seating in whatever room you use them.I first spotted these in the Pottery Barn catalog, but I wasn't ready to spend that much on something soft that might will most likely be chewed apart by our labrador. I can't tell you how … [Read more...] about DIY Ottoman Restyle

DIY Chalkboard Door for Fall
Old cabinet doors make excellent repurpose projects. This one is smooth and an excellent backdrop for a homemade chalkboard. We attached the vintage chippy-painted hardware at the bottom to conveniently hold the chalk. Finally, the addition of a small boxwood wreath is a great natural and earthy accent to create a seasonal display in your home. Change up the chalkboard embellishments to suit any season. … [Read more...] about DIY Chalkboard Door for Fall
Window to the World: DIY Map Project
My husband taught history for many years. Maybe it explains why he is attracted to all things old, vintage and worn... except for me, of course, because I'm at least a few years younger than him and definitely not old or worn - yet! But, like him, I am attracted to vintage and so this is just one of the many ways we are perfect life partners. I couldn't imagine this journey with anyone else. He also continues to amaze me with his creativity... and that's something that really melts my … [Read more...] about Window to the World: DIY Map Project
Flea Market Flip: Painted Vases
I'm a flea market junkie but I don't normally browse the glassware. I guess I feel like I already have a lot of it stored in cabinets and frankly I'm running out of storage for pieces that I only occasionally use. However, these two pumpkin-shaped vases caught my eye... and, well, they were only $1. Perfect for fall, RIGHT? I absolutely adore Krylon's Looking Glass spray paint. It turns plain ol' glass into something spectacular. I've used it on old floral vases, ball jars and more. It's … [Read more...] about Flea Market Flip: Painted Vases
DIY Letter Lamp Shade
I've been a little crazy about numbers in 2012. See my post here for details on my number fixation. So, when I needed to buy a new lamp shade for our family-room-turned-game-room, my first thought was to add some numbers to this plain ol' faux burlap shade. Since the boys have taken over this room with their video gaming marathons, I wanted it to be a little whimsical and modern. I'll be honest, this room has been largely ignored as far as decorating is concerned. It used to be a hideout for … [Read more...] about DIY Letter Lamp Shade
